So. This is the idea that I thought of on Tuesday, after writing that I would recommend certain authors. And I thought, well, since I would recommend them, why not do a post on my favorite books? Then, since I thought to plague you with the longest post of all time would be cruel, I decided I would do it as a weekly installment of my favorite things, and feature one book a week. Much more manageable, in my opinion.
So this week, my treasure trove is full of…
I’m obsessed with them. I have eighty-six right now. That’s eighteen of the regular set, twenty-four of the regular set (plus Caribbean colors!), the basic eight pack thin line, the eighteen pack of Caribbean colors thin line, eight chisel-tips, two metallic, and eight Sharpie pens. No, I am not kidding you. I am a fanatic for Sharpie love.
Remember how I mentioned those Sharpie pens? Best things ever invented. The sweetness of a Sharpie, all without bleeding through the page. They’re like felt tip markers, which basically means they’re amazing. I bought two packs of them–one of three and one of five. The five-pack I bought on my second shopping trip for college, and when I tossed the pack into the cart, my mom gave me a look like, “Why are those going in there?” Somehow my explanation of something akin to, “I have an inexplicable and unending obsession with Sharpies” sufficed, and she didn’t say anything else. All that to say, if you don’t have any Sharpie pens right now, it’ll be the best buy under nine dollars you’ve ever made. And no, I am not kidding.
I am, even after eighty-six Sharpies, figuring out how to expand my collection. I was thinking of more chisel tips, but I’ve actually been intrigued by the really short Sharpies for a long time. Sharpie sweetness, but really easy to transport? I think they’ve got me hooked. In fact, I think I should buy into Sharpie stock. It would be fairly easy to maintain a high value on my own, since I buy so many.
Yes, I am obsessed with Sharpies, and no, I will not apologize for it.
As for a favorite book, I recently read Just Between You and Me by Jenny B. Jones.
First let’s just discuss how hilarious I think Jenny is. Of course, I know that’s entirely subjective and the likelihood that you will find her as funny as I do may be the incredibly small fraction of a percent, but regardless, I urge you to read her blog here. And when you get a taste of her writing style and personality, then I would urge you to pick up a copy of Just Between You and Me. Actually, whether you like her or not, get the book. Maggie (the main character), has a pretty similar personality to Jenny, but the book retains an overall sense of serious fiction, with romance thrown in. I personally felt like this book detailed what my life story was gonna be if I didn’t beg God for some divine intervention, which is why I so highly recommend it. If you do pick it up, enjoy! (And then let me know what you thought of it!)
