i forgot my blog’s birthday.
straight. up. forgot.
i’m sorry, lil blog.
in the course of what she saw‘s history, we’ve survived a switch to and from disqus, the deletion of my entire commenting system, three name changes, four URL changes, more than a few blog designs, and countless other major and minor occurrences.
it’s been a good three years
(, two weeks and one day because SOMEONE forgot her blog had a birthday), and i’m so thankful.
i’m thankful for the community Jesus is building through this little space. i’m thankful for the blogs i’ve found, for the words written that challenge and build and grow me. i’m thankful for your comments and your emails and your tweets.
i’m thankful for the friends i’ve made. i’m thankful for the friends i’ve met (tali* and leigh and L) and the ones i want to meet (margaret) in michigan. i’ve thankful for dreams of visiting florida (meg and annie and katie) and california (erin and laney and gennean and whitney) and mississippi (caitlin and nicole) and texas (chelsea and kylee and lexie and elizabeth) and alabama (kerrie and the aforementioned lauren and faith) and pennsylvania (dana and the aforementioned megan) and wisconsin (katelyn and rachel) and virginia (hannah and A) and missouri (kate) & i’m sure i haven’t even named half of you at this point. i’m even thankful for friends who LEFT ME for the middle east (ameera, HERE’S LOOKING AT YOU), because blogging has kept us connected during her four years in chicago. (speaking of that, i took over ameera’s blog thursday.)
and i’m thankful for the one person with whom i took a trip to poland three years ago, without whom this blog would have been impossible (being that i had no concept of blogging as a community-based endeavor for the two years before august 12, 2009), and whose blog i recently redesigned: rachel.
i’m very fortunate she trusted me to redesign her blog. i’ve always been the designer behind the look at what she saw but it didn’t always look this pretty (if i do say so myself. can i say so myself?).
let’s just examine how the look at what she saw (previously annie’s musings) has evolved over the past three years:
i’m guest posting at lily‘s today about beautiful michigan scenery! note: beautiful michigan scenery not included. ahem.
