There’s nothing cooler than seeing a project you’re involved in come to fruition. I joined Jenny Simmons’s Kickstarter campaign for a few reasons: I loved the music she had made with Addison Road & solo and her story sounded a lot like mine (and consequently so did her book synopsis).
I also had the privilege of hearing her sing and speak at Hope Spoken last March. She told a story about visiting a jail and praying for a riot so she wouldn’t have to go. (“Those are not the kind of prayers God answers,” she told us. And I can tell you when we follow Jesus even into jail we see Him work in powerful ways. Jenny’s story, too, was proof of that.) Having done prison ministry in Kenya, I understood her apprehension.
I’m overjoyed to have found Jenny’s book and EP in my mailbox, not only because I’m thrilled to hear more of her story and music, but because when you’re on the road to becoming – or the unfurling ;] – four of the most critical words you could hear are, “You are not alone.” I have a sense Jenny’s words will do that for me.
