it really hurt my heart over the weekend to realize i blogged all the thoughts about once upon a time but didn’t even think about the other two shows running rampant through my mind: downton abbey, once upon a time in wonderland, and sherlock.
let’s begin with the former, shall we? episode 1, fairly uneventful. this was much needed even after having to wait for downton abbey to air in the US because series 3.
but episode 2 shattered my heart into tiny little pieces and left them scattered about the floor like pieces of confetti late into the night after a party that didn’t end the way it was supposed to.
(and oh my goodness, my brother’s girlfriend just sent me a text about downton. AHHHHH.)
after that, PBS aired unlocking sherlock, which was a behind-the-scenes on the BBC’s sherlock. it was really interesting! i didn’t realize sherlock holmes was the most portrayed literary character of all time and it was cool to see clips of old movies made about him, as well as a 1920s interview with the ACD himself.
although PBS won’t start airing sherlock until the 19th, i will admit that i’ve already seen the first episode of series 3.
it took me four hours.
which for a ninety-minute episode is just not even worth it.
not even for sherlock holmes himself.
anyway all this makes me want to do is reread all ACD’s stories, as though i don’t actually have eighty million unread books sitting in my room.
(that’s an unofficial 2014 goal of mine: read the books i own but haven’t read before. we’ll see how this works since it hasn’t gone real far the past two years.)
and that all brings us to once upon a time in wonderland, which i spent my friday night catching up on and which (thankfully) is not as crazy as its parent show (yet omg YET).
i forgot that OUAT wonderland is written by the same people who write OUAT. is that weird? (don’t answer that.) they give you the season ending you want and then introduce a significantly larger problem.
you feel me?!
also i don’t trust the red queen for a hot second. not a hot second!
and that – i think – is all the firing my neurons have done on a televisory level.
at least until next sunday.
and so help us, downton… bring it back down about eight notches, will you?
