this post could be subtitled: stories from my last full day stateside
i am, for better or for worse, a purse snob. i used my birthday money from when i turned eighteen to buy a coach purse and a wristlet, which i’ve since used exclusively. they’ll be four years old this winter but don’t look it, and i am so impressed with the quality that when i need to replace them, i’ll be buying coach again.
i’ve been wanting one of crossbody bags for a while but don’t need it and don’t have the money for one from target, much less a coach one (see the above reference to being a purse snob). and i needed a bag to take to spain, because i didn’t want to take my purse, so yesterday i thought i’d look through my closet at my parents’ house, where i stored my old purses, to see if there was anything there, although i was firmly convinced there wasn’t.
i found an older, brown crossbody bag, slung it over my head, and went to look in the full-length mirrors in my parents’ room while my mom finished her packing. i wasn’t sure i liked it very much, although the more i looked at it, the more it grew on me.
and then i noticed the little tag, a tag that looked suspiciously like the one on my coach purse.
i picked the tag up to read, and sure enough, in block letters, it read: COACH.
i thought i’d get my mother and i starbucks yesterday afternoon when we were at the mall.
we knew exactly what we wanted. a tall vanilla creme frappuccino for my mom and a venti vanilla latte for me.
guess what we got?
a tall vanilla creme frappuccino and a venti vanilla latte.
“your point?” you query.
there was a distinct lack of ice in my vanilla latte.
mostly because there was a distinct lack of the word “iced” when i placed my order.
so it was ninety-some degrees outside and i was drinking a hot vanilla latte.
i packed more pairs of shoes than i did books for this trip.
i’m taking ten pairs of shoes.
i’m taking seven books, not including my bible or my journal.
who am i?
my suitcase weighed 36 pounds. even with eight pairs of shoes inside it.
if you’re interested in keeping up with our team while we’re in spain, i’ll be blogging here daily. i’ll also tweet and instagram occasionally, so if you’re interested in keeping up on either of those outlets, my username is @anniewiltse on both.
today, i’m boarding a plane and i’m going to spain…
so the next time you hear from will be from madrid!
